Laser Fantasy

Poster Design & Augmented Reality  |  Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Aero, & Maya

This poster design was created to promote the ISU Planetarium’s Laser Fantasy show, blending both print and digital elements to create an interactive and immersive promotional experience. The printed poster features a dynamic composition that combines both illustrations and photography. A galaxy photo serves as the background, setting the stage with a vivid depiction of the night sky, while illustrated graphics of planets are strategically placed to introduce a sense of movement and intrigue. These illustrated planets also function as key design elements, providing designated spaces for essential show information. A QR code is placed in the bottom corner, inviting viewers to engage with the digital aspect of the poster.

The digital component of the poster utilizes augmented reality (AR) and 3D animation to bring the design to life. Through 3D modeling software (Maya), detailed models of planets and rings are constructed, adding depth and dimension to the static, 2D design. These elements are brought into the real-world using Adobe Aero, where the laser effects emerge from the show’s title, enhancing the visual experience and reinforcing the laser aspect of the show. As the planets rotate within the AR space, the poster prompts users to tap one of the planets, triggering a transition to the final interactive element – an online form.

This online form extends the poster’s interactive experience by allowing students or professors to submit their information and receive a special ticket offer to view the Laser Fantasy show. This fusion of print, digital, and augmented reality elements creates an engaging, multifaceted promotional tool that invites the audience to not only learn about the event but actively participate in the experience.
