Practicing Jesus

Promotional Graphics  |  Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, & Procreate

The graphics I created for the 12-week sermon series Practicing Jesus were among the largest projects I undertook during my time as a contracted designer at Eastview Christian Church. The visual concept for the series had already been established when I joined, so my role was to bring that concept to life across a variety of formats. This included designing promotional materials such as volunteer badges, atrium banners, journals to be distributed to the congregation, magnets to promote the series, and connect cards to advertise small groups.

One of my key contributions was designing the series icons. These icons were hand-drawn in Procreate, then refined and finalized in Illustrator. The Eastview team requested simple, clear icons that would visually communicate the theme of each week’s sermon. I created a set of icons that effectively conveyed these themes in a straightforward, visually appealing way.

In addition to the icons, I also designed the landing page for the sermon series. This involved close collaboration with the IT team, who would handle the coding and deployment of the webpage. We worked together to ensure that the design was not only visually aligned with the overall concept but also feasible within the team’s technical capabilities and the tight timeline for launch.

Global Teams Kickoff

Promotional Graphics  |  Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, & Marq

The graphics I designed for the Global Teams kickoff event combined photos from previous mission trips with typography to promote the trips Eastview offers to its members. The foundation of these designs was the photography, as the Global Trips Coordinator wanted to authentically and positively showcase the experiences of participants during their mission trips. At the time, there were two recent trips that required promotion, so the photos used for these materials were newly taken.

While the event details and trip photos were essential elements to include, I had creative freedom in developing the design aesthetic for this year’s kickoff. This presented a challenge, as I needed to create something fresh and engaging, distinct from the designs of previous years. Additionally, the design had to be structured in a way that would allow a non-designer to easily update and replace the photos as needed throughout the year.

The final deliverables included horizontal digital signage for display on screens in the atrium, social media graphics to promote the kickoff, a large banner to be placed in the atrium, and kiosk frames for the Global Teams station at Eastview Christian Church.
